As I frequently run bespoke training sessions and project-based workshops for clients, I create quite a lot of presentations. For quite some time now, I’ve been collaborating with ChatGPT to help me generate content for such presentations much more efficiently.

However, as I use Google Slides (rather than a Markdown-based presentation tool), I faced the significant problem of having to manually import the content into Google Slides presentations via copy and paste, which was very time-consuming.

Hence, I had the idea for a SaaS product called DeckWeaver that not only would take this tedious work off my hands, but also would allow me to review generated content directly from within the application, which would have the added benefit of fewer context switches and media breaks: https://usedeckweaver.com/

Recently, at this year’s iteration of the Spring I/O conference in Barcelona, I attended Simon Martinelli‘s talk on spec-driven development with AI and, specifically, his AI Unified Process (“Spec-driven Development: How AI Changed Everything (And Nothing)”).

Attending his talk really got me excited, which is why I decided to try out this process and its companion tools for implementing DeckWeaver.

The results were nothing short of breathtaking. I was able to implement DeckWeaver – or rather have it implemented by Claude Code – in a matter of days, where I probably would have needed months using a traditional, human-only software development process.

Recently, I gave Simon an interview on how I used AI Unified Process (and adjacent subjects):

Meanwhile, DeckWeaver is available for everyone (with a Google account) to try out at https://usedeckweaver.com/.
