On Tuesday this week, we released another update of Stratospheric – From Zero to Production with Spring Boot and AWS, which includes these changes and updates:

The AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) project, which we use to manage and deploy our AWS infrastructure, moves fast. Last year in December, AWS announced that the CDK v2 is now generally available.

As one of our main goals for Stratospheric is to stay up-to-date with the latest tools and frameworks, we took the effort to update all the things. Truth be told, though, there isn’t all that much to refactor or adjust anyway. If you’d like to know more, the official migration guide is a good start. In short, the migration comprises updating the versions, running cdk bootstrap again.

Apart from the AWS CDK v2 migration, revision 1.4 of the ebook contains these improvements:

  • Moving essential links to the beginning of the book
  • Replacing existing diagrams with nice-looking diagrams using Excalidraw
  • Housekeeping & textual improvements

You can always get the latest version of Stratospheric at Leanpub.
